Advocate: How well do I represent children's needs in our community?


In taking the assessment, please read each statement carefully and mark the number indicating how well the statement describes you. Although a certain statement might not be true of you all the time, indicate how true it is of you most of the time.

I am aware of community resources that could help my family.
I talk with my children's school teachers and counselors to see how things are going for my children.
When there is a problem in the community, I get involved to help solve it.
I participate in parent support or parent education groups.
I talk and share ideas with other people about making our community a better place for children.
I volunteer to help in community or neighborhood projects that will benefit children.
I speak out for families or children when I see a need.
I am an active member of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at my children's school.
I seek ideas from my relatives to help me with my children.
I try to get to know and build relationships with other parents in my neighborhood.
I try to stay aware of programs in our community, such as sports, clubs, scouts, 4-H, religious, and other children and youth organizations that may help children.
