Nurture: How well do I support and love my children?


In taking the assessment, please read each statement carefully and mark the number indicating how well the statement describes you. Although a certain statement might not be true of you all the time, indicate how true it is of you most of the time.

I'm afraid I'll spoil my child if I am too loving.
I express my affection to my children.
I show my children that I love them each day.
It's difficult for me to show physical affection (such as hugging) to my children.
It is hard for me to be sympathetic and helpful when my child is having problems.

I teach my children to be kind to animals.
I involve my children in acts of kindness toward others.
I try to make sure that my children eat a variety of foods that will keep them healthy.
I learn about nutrition so I know what my children need.
I make sure my children get proper servings of fruit and vegetables, dairy, and meat every day.
I usually keep my home clean.
Each child has a place in our home for their own things.
I make sure that my children wear clean clothes.
My children have clothes that they feel comfortable wearing.
I try to make sure that my children dress right for the weather.
I take my child in for periodic medical exams.
I make sure my children's teeth are checked regularly by a dentist.
I teach my children how to wash and keep their bodies clean.
I make sure my children brush their teeth at least once a day.
I teach my children to wash their hands properly and regularly.
When my children are sick, I make sure they get good care.
I teach my children about things in and around our home that could hurt them (including cleaning supplies, sharp objects, hot surfaces, and electrical objects).
I make sure my children always wear seat belts when they ride in cars.
I move out of reach things that could be dangerous to the children.
I have a lot of fun with my children.
My children and I enjoy many experiences together.
My children and I plan time for special activities.
My children and I do a lot of fun things together.
I teach my children about our family traditions and history.
